Building 29 Card Game with Flutter

A solo development project bringing the Bangladeshi trick-taking card game to Android, Windows, Linux and the web.

A hand of Twenty-Nine on the game's 3D card table

The challenge

Twenty-Nine depends on partnership, bidding and a hidden trump. The game needed to keep these rules understandable on a small screen while preserving the feeling of playing around a table. It also needed to work without a remote game server.

My contribution

I built and published the game solo, including the Flutter interface, 3D table, rules, bot opponents and local multiplayer. The published versions are available on Google Play, the Microsoft Store and the Snap Store, with a separate browser version.

A 3D table in Flutter

The table uses flutter_scene with Flutter GPU and Impeller. Flutter provides the menus and game controls around the scene. The auction, trump selection and deal result each have their own interface so players can follow the current stage of a hand.

Offline opponents and local multiplayer

Three bot difficulty levels let players practise offline; the Hard bot uses Monte Carlo search to plan its play. For friends on the same Wi-Fi, a host-authoritative LAN protocol keeps a single host responsible for the match state. Local Wi-Fi play supports two to four people. Remote internet multiplayer is not part of this release.

Language and continuity

The game supports English and Bangla, with an in-game tutorial and rulebook. Save and resume lets an unfinished offline match continue later. The website provides separate player guides and Android download pages in both languages.
